24AMRAP World Champions Interview

Pennies For The Boatman

The 24-hour AMRAP WOD is a challenge of epic proportions. Surviving 24 hours of non-stop back-to-back CrossFit action in itself is a feat of considerable physical and mental strenght. Winning it 2 years in a row is extraordinary. Pennies For The Boatman did it twice in a row and are back this year for the hattrick. Who are these athletes? We already put a spotlight on 24AMRAP veteran Nate Lerma, so now we’re going to take a closer look at the other team members. Sit back and enjoy…

The Days After

Warriors!

Congrats! You survived the 24-hour AMRAP Challenge. Designed to be the ultimate physical and mental ultra endurance team test for CrossFit athletes, this is no small accomplishment! Now the aftermath and revovery process starts. Here are some tips we accumulated over the years as competitors and organizers to help with that:

  • eat and drink many, many calories! – you burn through 10k calories during the #24AMRAP easily and to replenish and rebuild, you need calories
  • recovery work – although hanging out on the couch watching Netflix might feel right, we highly recommend revovery work: stretching, SMR work, ROMWOD, active recovery work on the rower or stationary bike etc, it will significantly speed recovery time (and make you feel better)
  • because this challenge is so exhausting and taxing mentally, we also highly recommend not forgetting about mental and psychological recovery: spend quality time with your loved ones, visit the box to have some coffee and talk to your teammates, coaches and fellow community members. The mind is a muscle, do not neglect it, it controls your body. If you need to find some clarity after this barrage of stimuli and sensory overload try an app like Headspace to find your bearings again.

Rest well friend, we are proud of you and yours.
